I want to revive the spirit of jazz
“Musicians in Poland play what Americans did several decades ago. It’s a nightmare. These people work in museums. I have no intention of being a museologist (…) I want to revive the spirit of jazz, abandon academic music. I am waiting for a confrontation”, says Piotr Orzechowski in an interview with Dawid Karpiuk (Newsweek, 21-27 January 2013).
Piotr Orzechowski is one of the most award-winning jazz musicians of the younger generation. Born 1990 in Kraków to a family with musical traditions, he is now a third year student at the Academy of Music in Kraków. November 2012 saw the release of Pianohooligan’s debut solo album, Experiment: Penderecki, which is a tribute to Krzysztof Penderecki’s music.

Experience one of the most haunting operas of the 20th century.
Inspired by true events, The Devils of Loudun is one of the most remarkable masterworks of modern opera. It offers a timeless vision of how wrong things can go when mass hysteria and fanaticism rule.
The Royal Danish Theatre presents the world premiere of a brand new version of the haunting avant-garde opera The Devils of Loudun. This unique event is staged by Keith Warner, former Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Opera.
Many are probably familiar with Penderecki’s musical vernacular without even realising it; among his artistic feats are the scores for horror movies such as William Friedkin’s The Exorcist and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.
