Honorary chairman
On 21 November, Krzysztof Penderecki was invited by Mr Andrzej Wituski, Director of the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competitions, and Mr Bartosz Bryła, President of the Board, to accept the title of Honorary Chairman of the 15th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, which will be held in October 2016. The jury will be headed by Maestro Maxim Vengerov.

Birthday concert
On 23 November, a special concert was held at the Adam Mickiewicz University Auditorium to mark Krzysztof Penderecki’s 79th birthday. Krzysztof Penderecki conducted the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra and the programme included works by Beethoven and Penderecki. His Double Concerto for Violin and Viola, commissioned by the Musikverein Vienna on the occasion of its bicentenary, had the Polish premiere. The world premiere took place in Vienna on 22 October.
