Częstochowa: Special concert on the occasion of Krzysztof Penderecki’s 80th birthday
A special concert to mark Krzysztof Penderecki’s 80th birthday will be held on 5 May in Częstochowa. During the concert, prizes will be awarded to winners of the “Musica Sacra” Composers Competition.
The concert will feature soloists Agnieszka Adamczyk (first soprano), Ewa Vesin (second soprano), Agnieszka Rehlis (mezzo-soprano), Tomasz Warmijak (tenor), Wojtek Gierlach (bass), the Polish Chamber Choir, the Kraków Philharmonic Choir, “Pueri Claromontani” Boys’ Choir, and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Krzysztof Penderecki and Verdi’s “Requiem”
“Only a genius could have written this work”, said about Giuseppe Verdi’s funeral mass another great romantic – Johannes Brahms.
Written in honor of the Italian writer Alessandro Manzoni, the monumental Requiem will be performed in the final concert of the 17th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir will be conducted by maestro Krzysztof Penderecki.
