“Step Forward”
On 2 June in Moscow, Elżbieta Penderecka will accept on behalf of her husband, Professor Krzysztof Penderecki, an award from the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland and the Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia. The “Step Forward” award is conferred for activities which bring the Polish and Russian nations together. The award is a sculpture (Tre Angeli – Three Angels) by the Italian sculptor Enrico Muscetra, who has been connected with Kraków for several years. The award will be conferred the first time.

St. Luke Passion
Krzysztof Penderecki’s St. Luke Passion will conclude the 15th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. On 22 April at the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra will join forces with the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir, the Choir of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok, the National Academic Choir of Ukraine “Dumka", the Warsaw Boys Choir and the soloists Iwona Hossa (soprano), Thomas Bauer (baritone), Tomasz Konieczny (bass) and Krzysztof Gosztyła (narrator). The concert will be conducted by the composer Krzysztof Penderecki.
