With Penderecki at the Festival of Polish Composers

Krzysztof Penderecki’s monumental “Credo” will be performed Sunday at St Maksymilian Kolbe’s Church in the Aleksandrowice district of Bielsko-Biała. The Beethoven Academy Orchestra under the composer’s baton will play as part of the Festival of Polish Composers.
Initially the Oregon Bach Festival and the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart commissioned Penderecki to write a mass. The composer prepared a draft of all the five ordinaries of the mass, but the Credo completely absorbed him, becoming an independent composition. Written for five solo voices (soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, bass), children’s choir, mixed choir and orchestra, the work will be performed by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the Kraków Philharmonic Choir, Pueri Cantores Sancti Nicolai – Boys’ Choir from Bochnia, and soloists Iwona Hossa (soprano), Ewa Vesin (soprano), Marcjanna Myrlak (alto), Adam Zdunikowski (tenor) and Piotr Nowacki (bass). The ensemble will be conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki.
The concert will take place on Sunday, 4 October at 6:00 pm at St Maksymilian Kolbe’s Church in Bielsko-Biała.
