Mural from Penderecki’s Music

Inspired by the music and draft scores of Krzysztof Penderecki, the mural will be produced next to the historic Queen Louise Adit in Zabrze. It is one of the happenings announcing the Third Krzysztof Penderecki International Festival, which will begin on 23 October in Silesia.
This time we are in for a special event as part of the prelude to the festival. A large-format mural, inspired by the autographs and draft scores of the festival’s patron, will be created near the mouth of the Queen Louise Adit in downtown Zabrze (ul. Miarki 8). The work will be produced by NieTak, one of the best groups of this kind in Poland. The mural will be about 10 m wide by 4 m high. Its final form will be influenced by the music of Maestro Penderecki, performed live by the Sinfonietta Cracovia orchestra under the baton of Jurek Dybał. The concert to coincide with the work of the artist painters will begin on Saturday, 3 October at 2:00 pm. The happening will end at 4:00 pm. We will hear a short overview of Krzysztof Penderecki’s works, culminating in Sinfonietta No. 3 “Leaves from an Unwritten Diary”, the quintet premiere of which opened the first edition of the festival in Zabrze.
“I believe that this kind of campaigns, which are possible thanks to the openness of the city, contribute a lot to an increasing interest in contemporary music. The best proof of this is the enormous and growing popularity of our unique festival held at a special venue – the Guido Coal Mine in Zabrze, 320 metres underground. I am looking forward to meeting you during the third edition!” said Jurek Dybał, the director of the Festival and of the Sinfonietta Cracovia orchestra.
