Finale of the 10th Chain Festival


On Saturday, 9 February at the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra will perform under the baton of its artistic director, Krzysztof Penderecki. The programme of the concert includes Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra and Penderecki’s Symphony No. 5 “Korean". The concert will end the 10th Chain Festival, which presents Lutosławski’s works.
Several days later, the orchestra will go on a tour to give concerts in Basel, Cologne, Viersen and Ludwigshafen, with the participation of the German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and conductor Michael Francis. The programme includes Benjamin Britten’s Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major Op. 35, Antonín Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor Op. 53, as well as Witold Lutosławski’s Partita for Violin and Orchestra, which he composed with the German violinist in mind.
