Birthday concert

On 23 November, a special concert was held at the Adam Mickiewicz University Auditorium to mark Krzysztof Penderecki’s 79th birthday. Krzysztof Penderecki conducted the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra and the programme included works by Beethoven and Penderecki. His Double Concerto for Violin and Viola, commissioned by the Musikverein Vienna on the occasion of its bicentenary, had the Polish premiere. The world premiere took place in Vienna on 22 October. The soloists in Poznań were Fumiaki Miura (violin) and Julian Rachlin (viola). After the break, Krzysztof Penderecki conducted Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
After the concert, Krzysztof Penderecki received the title of honorary member of Pro Sinfonika in Poznań.
