Grand Finale of Sacrum Profanum
An extraordinary event will take place at the finale of the 10th jubilee edition of the Sacrum Profanum Festival: music from the repertoire of the most outstanding modern Polish composers – icons of the avant-garde will be performed by DJs associated with the cult Ninja Tune record label. The audience in the Tinning Plant of ArcelorMittal will hear compositions from the repertoire of Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Witold Lutosławski and Wojciech Kilar in new surprising and bold arrangements, prepared specially for that evening by the Skalpel duo, DJ Food (Kevin Foakes aka Strictly Kev), King Cannibal (Dylan Richards), the Grasscut duo (Andrew Phillips and Marcus O'Dair) and DJ Vadim (Vadim Peare). Alternative versions of Penderecki and Lutosławski? Ambient versions of Górecki and Kilar? Sounds both intriguing and dangerous… The concert that is announced as one of the most important music events of the year will start at 8:00 pm on 15 September.
The concert will last more than two hours and will consist of four parts. Each of them will be dedicated to one great Polish composer: Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Witold Lutosławski and Wojciech Kilar. Every set will last over 30 minutes and will be opened by Kronos Quartet – an excellent American string quartet presenting the original version of a selected piece by a given composer. After them, musicians from the Skalpel band will appear on stage to perform remixes of the same compositions together with their friends – DJs from the Ninja Tune record label.
