Night Music of Modern Times

A concert dedicated to the work of Krzysztof Penderecki will take place on 16 June at the Pinakothek der Moderne, one of the largest contemporary art museums in Europe. The composer’s works will be performed by the Münchener Kammerorchester conducted by Alexander Liebreich and the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
The programme of the concert entitled “Night Music of Modern Times” includes Penderecki’s works such as “Serenade for Strings” and Chaconne for string orchestra, Stabat Mater from St. Luke Passion for mixed choir a cappella, and Agnus Dei from the “Polish Requiem” for mixed choir a cappella. The concert will be preceded by a conversation with the composer about his work. An interesting point of the concert will be the premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s new work, the String Quartet No. 3. arranged for a chamber orchestra and written to mark the jubilee of the composer’s publisher, Dr Peter Hanser-Strecker, the director of Schott Music.
