Composer’s portrait
Two concerts entitled the “Composer’s portrait”, the programme of which will consist of Krzysztof Penderecki’s works, will be held on 20 and 21 January in Warsaw. The Orchestra and Choir of the Warsaw Philharmonic will be conducted by the Maestro himself. The programme includes the Psalms of David for choir and instrumental ensemble, the Hymn to St Adalbert for choir and orchestra, Three Chinese Songs for baritone and chamber orchestra, the Hymn to St Daniil for choir and orchestra, the Cieszyn Chorale for choir and orchestra, The Awakening of Jacob, and Kaddish.
The solo parts will be performed by Olga Pasichnyk (soprano), Alberto Mizrahi (tenor), Thomas E. Bauer (baritone), and Daniel Olbrychski (narrator). The soloists will be accompanied by the Choir of the Warsaw Philharmonic prepared by Prof. Henryk Wojnarowski. The Friday concert on 20 January will be preceded by Ewa Szczecińska’s introductory lecture.
