ICMA nominations
The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) has nominated a total of 214 CDs and DVDs. Among the nominees are Krzysztof Penderecki’s recordings. Albums with the composer’s music were nominated in 2 categories: contemporary music (Cello Concerto arr. for viola with Grigori Zhyslin and Cello Concerto No. 2 with Tatiana Vassilieva and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Antoni Wit; Naxos label) and chamber music (String Quartets, String Trio and Clarinet Quartet performed by Dafo string quartet; Dux label).
A CD with Carl Maria von Weber’s “Euryanthe”, published by Polish Radio jointly with the Ludwig van Beethoven Association, was nominated in the Opera category. The concert performance of the opera was recorded during the 14th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw.
The laureates will be announced on 20 February 2012. The awarding ceremony will take place on 15 May in Nantes. The gala concert will be performed by the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire under the baton of John Axelrod. The concert will be broadcast by France Musique and several radio stations.
