Season inauguration at the Kraków Philharmonic Hall

The Kraków Philharmonic will inaugurate the 2011/2012 concert season with the Kraków premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s “A Sea of Dreams did Breathe on me. Songs of Reverie and Nostalgia” for soprano, mezzo-soprano, baritone, choir and orchestra.
The work will be performed in Kraków twice over the coming weekend: on 23 and 24 September. The Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra will be led by Paweł Przytocki, with soloists Izabela Matuła (soprano), Agnieszka Rehlis (mezzo-soprano) and Mariusz Godlewski (baritone).
Krzysztof Penderecki composed “A Sea of Dreams did Breathe on me” at the commission of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute to mark the 200th birthday of Fryderyk Chopin. The Polish premiere took place on 14 January 2011 in Warsaw. The three-movement composition was written to the text of Polish poets Wierzyński, Leśmian, Miciński, Staff and Norwid.
Professor Krzysztof Penderecki will be the honorary guest of the concert.
