“Step Forward”

On 2 June in Moscow, Elżbieta Penderecka will accept on behalf of her husband, Professor Krzysztof Penderecki, an award from the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland and the Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia. The “Step Forward” award is conferred for activities which bring the Polish and Russian nations together. The award is a sculpture (Tre Angeli – Three Angels) by the Italian sculptor Enrico Muscetra, who has been connected with Kraków for several years. The award will be conferred the first time.
The “Step Forward” was awarded to Krzysztof Penderecki for his lifetime activities and for special achievements in artistic activity as a composer and conductor.
The awarding ceremony is planned as part of the work of upper chambers of the parliaments of the Republic of Poland and the Russian Federation. In 2011, the award committee selected two award recipients: Professor Krzysztof Penderecki and Russian composer Andrei Eshpai.
